I rescue and collect historical glass dinnerware. My hobby is studying it in within the cultural context that it was created and used. I try (and love when I succeed)to reassemble sets as they may have appeared on the table in their own era. So much of the study of culture has neglected the domestic front, yet the dinner table, the family celebrations, the dining and entertaining can't be ignored in the building of America. I love the other side too, the entrepreneurial spirit of the people who designed and fired and cut and molded, and competed with each other, and then merged their companies together so they could keep on going.
