Item description

Vintage original 8.5 x 8.5 in. letter on company letterhead pertaining to two teens WWI-themed films produced by the Universal Film Manufacturing Company and released in 1918. Written from Universal Film Exchanges, Inc. excutive offices in New York and dated October 9, 1918, this letter was addressed to the Palace Theatre in Antigo, Wisconsin. Within they confirm for this theatre exhibitor that they have booked the feature-length war drama, The Kaiser, the Beast of Berlin (referred to as "The Kaiser") for November 13 [1918] and the documentary, Crashing Through to Berlin, for November 27 [1918]. It was signed in black ink by the Sales Manager of the Jewel Dept. ("Jewel" was the brand of Universal that would produce a small amount of big-budget prestige films each year). Printed on an onion-skin stock, it is in fine+ condition with a vertical fold in the left half; some small creases along the top and bottom edges; and a small smudge near the center of the left border. There are no tears or other flaws.
