Item description

Vintage Hand Painted Signed by the Artist - Pharaoh Ramses II - Atum - Thoth - Seshat The Tree of Life - Egyptian Kemet Large Art Painting on Papyrus Paper. Item is professionally framed and matted. Item is as displayed in the photo gallery in excellent pristine condition. Condition is "Used". Frame measures 46" by 36" inches. This is a large framed painting encased in glass with substantial weight. Shipped with FedEx Ground or FedEx Home Delivery. This painting comes from a relief in one of the smaller hypostyle halls in The Ramesseum, the Mortuary Temple of Ramses II. Ramses II is often considered Egypt?s greatest, most celebrated, and most powerful Pharaoh. Ramses is seated under the sacred tree of Heliopolis (Tree of Life) while Atum (at left, seated on a throne), Seshat and Thoth (standing, right) inscribe his name on the leaves to acknowledge him as a worthy successor of his forbears. Atum is the primal creator god, who arose out of nothing. He is the patron of the sun, creation, and rulership of the gods. He is shown wearing the dual crown of Upper and Lower Egypt. One of the only details that distinguishes him from a Pharaoh is the shape of his beard. Thoth was considered to be the heart and tongue of the sun god Ra, and was often depicted as a man with the head of an ibis or baboon, animals sacred to him. He is shown wearing the lunar crescent on his head. He was the patron of knowledge, secrets, writing, and scribes. His feminine counterpart was Seshat. Seshat was the goddess of wisdom, knowledge and writing. She was seen as a scribe and record keeper. She was depicted with a stylized papyrus plant above her head. She is usually shown holding a palm stem, with the symbol of a Jubilee Pavilion (festival) hanging from it. In this painting, Thoth is also carrying a palm stem with the same symbol.
