Item description

JUSTICE TRAPS THE GUILTY #58 (Volume 7, No.4) January 1954, Prize/Headline Cover by Marvin Stein. Art by Marvin Stein and Mort Meskin. Pioneering crime comic Justice Traps the Guilty was produced by the studio of comics legends Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, creators of Captain America. A con man hires a killer as his new partner - but first he must get rid of the old partner. An elderly shut-in plans to kill his neighbor to get his spot by the window. A man becomes a vicious thug after his brother is killed by cops during a robbery. Art from this issue is featured in Dr. Fredric Wertham's 1954 anti-comics classic Seduction of the Innocent, illustration #14, with the caption, "Treating police contemptuously is a comic-book commonplace." The Swindler; Something to Kill for!; The Last Laugh; Closeups; Desert Justice; Cotton Clue; Two-Gun Crowley. 32 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.10. The comic is in GOOD + condition with some overall wear. The spine is split 1-1'2" down from the top of the spine. There is a small chunk out of the lower corner of the front cover, some cover edge wear, and a triangular shaped crease on the lower front cover. There is a red arrival date written on the top of the front cover. The side edge of the back cover is ragged with some chunks out. The inside pages are tanning but otherwise complete. (see pictures) Mint (MT) (Overstreet) Nearly perfect in every way. Near Mint (NM) (Overstreet) Nearly perfect with only minor imperfections such as subtle bindery/printing defects. Very Fine (VF)(Overstreet) Excellent copy with outstanding eye appeal; limited accumulation of bindery/printing defects, surface wear, and minor spine creasing. Fine (FN)(Overstreet) Above average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with no significant creasing or other serious defects. Very Good (VG)(Overstreet) The average used comic book with moderate to significant wear. Good (GD)(Overstreet) Shows significant wear. Fair (FR)(Overstreet) Shows heavy wear. Poor (PR)(Overstreet) Little or no collector value.
