Item description

Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the classic 1930's historical drama biopic, THE PRIVATE LIVES OF ELIZABETH AND ESSEX, released in 1939 by Warner Bros. and directed by Michael Curtiz. Based upon the stage play by Maxwell Anderson, the story focuses on the love/hate relationship between Queen Elizabeth I (Bette Davis) and Robert Devereux, the Earl of Essex (Errol Flynn). The cast includes Olivia de Havilland, Donald Crisp, Alan Hale, Vincent Price, Henry Stephenson, and Henry Daniell. The image is from the film's climax and depicts and exterior shot of Robert Devereux, the Earl of Essex (Errol Flynn), as he stands calmly next to the Queen's Executioner and his block while a priest reads him his late rites as another man stands by. It is in near-fine condition with multiple pinholes and near each corner and a few scattered in the borders and light signs of wear on the corners. There are no tears, writing, or other flaws.
