This case is not quite as armored as the big plastic clamshell cases, but the inner pockets for the spare lenses are well designed and soft on the lenses. The loop is handy, but I would not trust it to hang outside a pack by just one snap... inside a pocket or bag, in a car or a locker, it's very nice. It is smaller than the big plastic cases, but is strong enough to protect against anything but falling directly on the case with adult full body weight.
