It seems oceanographers have discovered the "cocoons" that were deposited on the bottom of the bay and are disturbing them. While an alien team sets about recovering one of their kidnapped fellows, we see a series of reunions between the old human travellers and those they left behind. All 15 cast members from the original are onboard here lending good continuity to the story. Although accustomed to their new peaceful, problem-free planet, they realize the joys they left behind after they are reunited with their stunned families. Yet, for all their happiness, they must once again confront the human frailties of their past.
