Item description
INJURIES OF THE SKULL AND BRAIN IN MYTH AND LEGEND
by Cyril B. Courville, M.D.
Vantage Press, First Edition, 1967
Condition: Very Good+ in Very Good- dust jacket
While gathering material for a survey of cranial injuries among North American Indians, noted neurologist Courville began researching their myths and legends to find out if such injuries were mentioned; this led to studying the cultures of other peoples and other times, as well, and this book is the result. Doctors and others in the fields of medicine, surgery, psychiatry and neurology will find this book fascinating and informative. If you just read the comics or watch TV -- POW! It may be for you, too. Includes 10 full-page illustrations.
Vantage Press is America's oldest and largest vanity publisher. It is not a print-on-demand operation, but gives its writers a full publishing package for their money. But because many of their titles have had small print runs, and because of the many quirky titles they've published (such as this one), their books have often become colllector's items.
Some modest cover corner and edge wear, a slight page edge bump and page toning. Otherwise, very nice. The jacket has 2" bottom tears along the spine and back fold, as well as some other short edge tears and some creasing. The front flap is NOT price-clipped and this is NOT an ex-library copy. An interesting item from a very desirable publisher.
