The eighth mystery featuring Detective Chief Inspector Harry Matineau set in Granchester, involves a millionaire's Rolls Royce.
The first Martineau mystery was adapted to the 1960 film 'Hell Is A City' starring Stanley Baker, Joan Crawford, and Donald Pleasence.
Fine, square, firm and very tight in black linen over gray linen boards with green embossed titles and decorations to the spine, black-and-white patterned end-papers, deckle page fore-edges; in a near fine dust jacket with a few minuscule shelf-edge tears and a hint of rubbing; original printed $3.95 price and 0164 date code still intact to the front inner flap.
