Harvey Comics Promo Sales Calendar Poster Issue: 172 / Year: August 1971 Condition: Harvey Comics Summer Lineup poster #172 April 1971. From the mid 60's to the early 1970's Harvey Comics Publishing Co issued a series of promotional sales posters. These were provided to news stands that carried the line of Harvey Comics. The posters were sequentially numbered from 1 to 245 and were issued monthly and featured a different character each month. To entice the news stand operators to display the poster, Harvey provided a monthly calendar on each poster. Most newsstands used every inch of space to display comics and magazines, so the posters usually weren't on display and quickly found their into the garbage can. Today these are highly sought after and are quite scarce. Each of these posters has art that didn't appear in the comic books. The size was usually about 18x23, but there are some slight variations.
