BRIDES of the BEAST (vhs) EP mode, 2nd of and 50 similar items

Pre-viewed for quality and the print appears to be duplicated from a tape source. The color is faded and there are many sparkle scratches throughout. There are a couple of quick rolling lines at 56 minutes that are definitely in the 'tape source' being duplicated and not this tape itself. That means all copies of this brand will have it. Again at 1 hour 21 minutes and 24 minutes there are a couple of quick thick lines. Otherwise it played fine on my Fisher vcr despite the slower tape speed and I did not have to adjust my tracking. The box is in good shape except for a mar streak across the top back. Cassette is nice and clean, no stickers and this title is Out Of Print (OOP) in all formats including its alternate titles. Reports of plant and animal mutation attributed to Pacific atomic testing brings a Peace Corps-style mission of mercy to Blood Island. The American contingent consists of government worker Jim Farrell (John Ashley, hot off his 2nd 'Beach Party' series), Dr. Paul Henderson and his restless wife Carla. The tone of their visit is set from the moment they arrive--they're just in time to see the natives disposing of some shredded human remains. After the initial formalities, the crew is met by friendly, wealthy landowner Stephen Powers and his bald, brutish servant. Farrell declines Powers' offer of lodging at his mansion (much to Carla's dismay), since the natives can only be helped by people willing to live and work with them. The Americans certainly have their work cut out for them, as evidence of the mutations they suspect is all around them: Harmless insects transform into monsters before their eyes; the local plant life attacks passerby; and, most troubling of all, the natives regularly sacrifice maidens to a visciuos, bloblike monster that stalks the night. Powers, on the other hand, insists that the radiation has done him a world of good, keeping him young beyond his years. But that might not be the only effect it's had... Boasting plenty of gore, monsters and gyrating native women, BRIDES of the BEAST was quite a crowd-pleaser in it's day. A durable drive-in favorite that played the circuit well into the '80s. This is reportedly the uncut version but is one of the worst-looking transfers in home video history. If you're a righteous grindhouse fan like myself, you just kind of ignore it and pretend you're at the drive-in.
