Item description
Lodge, Henry Cabot, THE STORY OF THE REVOLUTION. New York:
Charles Scribner?s Sons, 1898. 2vols.
complete, 1st ed. blue cloth hardcovers with gilt titling to spines
and front boards, 8vo (9x6.125?), Good+/n.a., vol.1, 324pp.; vol.2, 285pp.
Spines tanned, vol.1 chipped/torn at head and tail,
both vols. awash with laid in, pasted in, even stapled in newspaper articles
from approx. 1915-1925, each being somehow relevant to the material presented
in the text, there is also a good amount of pencil notes indicating the books
may have been the property of a history professor at one point, or at the least
a very passionate Revolutionary War fan.
Rather than being a detraction are presented as a marvelous attraction
with each article giving wonderful insight into the world of long ago. This is
an 1890?s book about a 1770?s war filled with ephemera from the early 20th
century ? quite the distinctive set of books indeed.
