AMPHIBIAN MAN (dvd-r) *NEW* Russian sci-fi, and similar items

Brand new factory sealed dvd-r is Out Of Print (OOP) in all formats and no longer being manufactured. Not stated on the box, I must assume that it is full frame, however it could be letterboxed. Don't know if it's Russian with English subtitles or dubbed either. Quentin Tarantino has called it one of his favorite Russian films that he watched a lot as a kid. A combination of 'Aquaman' and 'Creature from the Black Lagoon' this was a big box office winner in Russia. Ichtiandr is the son of Dr. Salvator, a marine biologist who managed to make his boy a perfectly amphibious creature. The sea devil, as he is known locally, saves the beautiful Guttiera from the sea and they fall in love, but as she is forced to marry the rich owner of the fishing fleet, Ichtiander loses her, looks for her in cities far and wide, gets imprisoned and generally maltreated. This eventually impairs his amphibious abilities, forcing him to return to the sea for good. This aquatic 'Love Story' (1970) proved an unexpected popular success with sentimental teenagers throughout the USSR and received an award at the Trieste Festival. The very pretty heroine, Anastasia Vertinskaya, went on to become one of Russia's outstanding young actresses.
