First edition, first printing.
Frontispiece art from MacNeice's death mask by his daughter Corrina.
Contains an original, first time in print, four page poem, titled "Prologue" by Louis MacNeice.
Following the original poem is a collection of seventeen essays and studies about MacNeice and his works by friends and scholars including "A Memorial Address" by W.H. Auden.
MacNeice was a highly lauded poet from the Auden Group, a playwright, a prolific script writer for the BBC, and was awarded the CBE (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire).
In nice collectible condition.
Fine in tan and deep-blue woven linen with gilt embossed titles to the spine, black end-papers; in a nearly fine dust jacket with a small faint soil-smudge to the lower front panel, and with a hint of age-toning to the spine panel; original printed 4.25 net price still intact to the front inner flap.
