A eleven page poem printed on "brown wrap" paper, side-saddle stapled with tipped-on paper illustration of a sailing ship (at night) with the "Light of the Southern Cross."
Minor nicks to the tipped-on illustration and faint creases to the covers and text, from reading, else near fine.
Octavo (8 11/16" by 5 9/16")
16 pages.
Very scarce ephemeral piece.

This is one of the many items from a family related collection of Joaquin Miller material we acquired many decades ago at auction.
Joaquin Miller (Cincinnatus Heine Miller) 1837-1913 was a Western poet, author and frontiersman.
He was nicknamed the "Poet of the Sierras".
His various colorful occupations included being a miner, lawyer, newspaperman, Pony Express rider, and horse thief.
He associated with Ambrose Bierce, Bret Harte, Charles Warren Stoddard, Ina Coolbrith, and actress Adah Isaacs Menken.
