Item description
Nice example of Southwest native American craftsmanship during the 70s when there was a high demand for their craft. Based on the RB mark, most likely a creation of Rita Robert Begay although the mark on this ring is inscribed with a tool and the Sterling is in script whereas the book (โHallmarks of the Southwestโ by Barton Wright) shows the initials in standard letter print. Regardless of its pedigree, the turquoise stone is the most desirable bright sky blue and the old coral piece is a deep red with a feather flowing at an angle creating a bit of a figure eight shape.
The top portion is 7/8โ x โ; no dents; ring shank slightly off which is not uncommon when a ring has been worn with love โ it doesnโt affect its wear, but could be smoothed by a jeweler (proper tools.) Overall, it is in very good, wearable, vintage condition.
