Item description
Ancient Chinese Coin – Southern Song Dynasty Emperor: Gaozong (Zhao Gou) Reign Period: Jianyan (??) – 1127-1130 AD Denomination: Chongbao (??) – Equivalent to 3 Cash (Zhe San / ??) Script Style: Seal Script (?? / Zhuan Shu) – Highly collectible variety
Obverse (Front): ???? (Jianyan Chongbao) – Read clockwise in elegant seal script: ? (top), ? (right), ? (bottom), ? (left). Reverse (Back): Blank (plain field, no mint mark or inscription) – Typical for this issue.
Material: Bronze (copper alloy) Approximate Size: Diameter ~30-33 mm (larger than standard 1-cash coins due to Zhe San denomination) – See hand-held photos for scale. Weight: Not measured precisely here, but typical for type ~6-8g. Condition: Authentic original ancient coin with thick natural patina (greenish-black oxidation and earthen crust), clear legible characters, no signs of modern cleaning, repair, or casting defects. Very good preservation for an 900+ year-old coin from a turbulent period (early Southern Song, post-Jin invasion). Minor edge wear consistent with circulation age – see close-up photos.
