On Good Friday 6th April 1612, an important meeting took place at Malkin Tower, believed to have been a witches Sabbat. Details of this meeting have been recorded in detail and many of those who were at the meeting were subsequently sentenced to death. There is a vast amount of knowledge about the Pendle witches as the proceedings of the trial were recorded by the clerk of the court and preserved and published. The facts are still available today. A majority of the evidence came from the confessions of only four of the accused: Alizon Device, her brother James Device, their grandmother Demdike, and Chattox.
