Item description
TYPED LETTER SIGNED "rod"
Dated March 30, 1957
included with
An inscribed and fully SIGNED handsome photographic portrait of a very young Rod McKuen.
The letter is to an early fan of Rod McKuen and his songs. He thanks her for "taking time out to write me" and mentions "picnic by the sea" a song he wrote and sang as an actor in the movie Rock, Pretty Baby (1956). He also mentions his song "flowers on a hillside" was recorded by the di castros (sic) and that it was "getting very popular here on the west coast."
The letter mentioned that he was enclosing "the picture you asked for."
The letter is on his stationary and measures 7" by 5 1/2". There is a faint crease from previous folding and it has a edge nick and small stain and crease to the lower left corner.
The sepia-toned photo shows a handsome young (23 years old) Rod McKuen with a brief SIGNED inscription. The photo measures 5" by 7" with the portrait in excellent condition.
An early correspondence and photograph from the bestselling poet, songwriter, actor and singer.
