Stanley Brass and Wood Level. and 45 similar items

This is a 26 inch long wood level . The vials all have liquid/bubble and are adjustable. The brass plugs for the vial adjustments appear to have never been removed for adjustment and are in excellent shape. The vertical glass vial is saddled in brass which is unique. The hardwood is not cracked but has some minor abrasions. It has and shows scuffing, chips and markings typical for it’s age and use. The original cherry wood finish is still visible, intact and is close grained with a substaintal weight to the level. The condition is typical for the use and age of the level. The number 0 is stamped into the wood in front of the top brass cover plate protecting the horizontal level vial. This level may have been manufactured in Canada and would be considered rare. The top bubble brass reads: STANLEY RULE LEVEL CO NEW BRITIAN CONN USA 6-2-91 – 6-23-96 Primary brass bubble cover ( vertical and horizontal) have markings that read “patented Mar 25 90 adjustible.” John Walter's book, Antique Collectible Stanley Tools Guide to Identity Value These levels were manufactured under different patents from 1859-1942. These numbers link it to a manufacture date of 1895 to 1905 * or a few years after. * Manufactures typically overproduce parts and so a patent date that has expired would result in some levels with that patent date being produced for after the date.
