Item description
#6 in the Tom Swift Jr. series. Grosset and Dunlap hardcover publication. Copyright 1955. Print year estimated at 1962, based on initial publication date of #20 Megascope Space Prober, the last title listed on both the rear cover and the internal book list. Author "Victor Appleton II." Victor Appleton the first was the Stratemeyer Syndicate pen name for the initial Tom Swift series.
Very nice, clean near-fine picture cover book. Sturdy spine and hinges, very slight spine slant. Closed tear of about an inch in midline of front free endpaper edge. Blue and white space lab endpapers. No writing/markings.
In this one, Tom establishes his 50-passenger space station, over a thousand miles up from earth level, at which he manufactures solar batteries. It is also an observation station with a telescope and environmental recording equipment.
