Vintage Musical Clown by Schmid Wood Hand Crafted Plays The Entertainer Working 6.5" Tall and 4.25" Wide at the base. Schmid sticker on the bottom that reads The Entertainer, Schmid No. 254 Made in Japan. There is also a small stamp in the wood reading Schmid with additional illegible text. It is hand crafted with a wood clown, a performing dog a red white ball. Each of the pieces move while the music plays. The dog ball rotate clockwise for a few revolutions then switch and go the other direction. The movement is good, but the music the movement are very slow. During my research I found that this slow movement seems to be typical for this music box. There is a wood peg in the base that is pulled out for playing or pushed in to make the music motion stop. The clown's suit is a little dusty from age there are small signs of wear on the wooden base consistent with vintage age.
