A truly lovely relish/celery dish made by Reinhold Schlegelmilch in Germany. It was made in the Art Nouveau style which was popular during 1890-1910, it's delicate floral pattern does look Victorian & feminine. Art Nouveau is known for flowing lines and shapes inspired by Nature. You can certainly see this in the gently curved edge of this oval dish. The edges of the longer sides fold in on themselves between it's handles. It's handpainted pattern of white, pale pink roses and soft green leaves is on a creamy background. Inside the bowl, it has a raised gold border which is a rose vine with little thorns. A charming detail. Made of fine porcelain, it is 9" long, 4" wide, 1" tall and 1-1/2" tall as the handles point up. The mark on the bottom is a green wreath with a star on top, the letters R.S. & Germany under the wreath. This piece is in excellant, vintage condition with only a few flaws on the bottom. No chips, scratches or utensil marks. All my items are sanitary and come from my clean, smoke free home.
