SEE HERE, PRIVATE HARGROVE
by Marion Hargrove
Henry Holt & Co., October 1942
First Edition, 11th Printing
Condition: Near Fine in VG+ to NF dj
This book is written as a novel (with a Foreward by Maxwell Anderson), but it is definitely based on fact (Hargrove's experiences in the Army after being drafted). It was the best-selling book of WWII (there's an endorsement for buying War Bonds on the back cover). This is an early printing -- these are not uncommon, but copies in this condition for both book and jacket ARE uncommon. The book has foxing on the end papers and a Christmas sticker on the ffep; there's a tiny bump on the top edges of a couple of pages and serious toning just on the inside margins. The back cover of the jacket has a short edge tear and some soiling, modest corner wear and very slight wear on the front edges and front fold -- nothing else really worth mentioning. Unusually well-preserved!
