Vintage Hull Art Ceramic Flared Vase
Pink, Magnolia Design in Blue and Green
H - 6 - 6 1/2
This beautiful pink scalloped Hull Art vase was made in the late 1940s when Hull began making the floral vases after WWII. It is marked Hull Art on the bottom. The plant burned down in June 1950 and when they reopened, they changed to a different logo and no longer used "Hull Art." The vase is flared at the top with scalloped edges and has a lovely magnolia design on the front and a slightly different one on the back. In addition to "Hull Art" the bottom is also marked with U.S.A. and "H - 6 - 6 1/2." It would appear that these are dimensions but none of them are actually 6 or 6 1/2 inches. The height of the vase is 6 3/4 inches, almost 7 inches. The H-6 could indicate the symbol of the designer, a common marking on other pieces.
The vase is a lovely pale pink with a raised magnolia design. The magnolias are are blue trimmed with light green leaves. The colors are perfect, no evidence of fading. The vase, though probably used does not have any signs of chips or cracks. There is some slight crazing spread evenly throughout the vase which only adds to its vintage look. There's a bit of dirt in the very bottom, but I did not want to wash it because I didn't want to jeopardize the excellent colors. The dirt is not visibleunless you look way down into the bottom.
This charming piece measures 6 3/4 inches tall, 5.5 inches wide, 3.5 inches deep and weighs exactly 1 lb.
