Pre-viewed for quality and perfect in every way, like new. Large collectible oversized clamshell and the film has been THX digitally remastered for superior picture and sound. Full screen version is normal for this era and the uncompressed audio rivals digital couterparts.

A true American classic directed by Victor Fleming ('Gone With the Wind') continues to be enjoyed by new generations enthralled with the magical story-telling of L. Frank Baum, whose fairy tale was adapted by Noel Langley.

Judy Garland (in her immortal role) is the young Kansan Dorothy Gale who is knocked out during a tornado (filmed in sepia tone) and wakes up (in COLOR) in a fantasy kingdom. Taking the Yellow Brick Road to adventure, she meets the Scarecrow (Ray Bolger), the Tin Man (Jack Haley) and the Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr). The fantastic kingdom of Oz is ruled by Frank Morgan and threatened by the wicked witch (Margaret Hamilton) and a swarm of deadly flying monkeys. Then, of course, there are the Munchkins.

Cedric Gibbons' art design always looks fresh and vibrant, the songs and music are unforgettable and the exaggerated acting perfectly captures the proper note. Enjoy the Munchkin merriment, because you will never discover a film as wonderful as this one.

As a side bar to modernist, urban legend has it that if you turn the sound off and start the CD 'Dark Side of the Moon' by Pink Floyd when the MGM lion roars at the begining of the film itself, the soundtrack sort of matches up to the onscreen action.
