Description:
The John Deere model ”420” V was the rarest of all ”420” Series agricultural tractors manufactured at the Dubuque Tractor Works. A total of only 86 were produced during the 1956, 1957, and 1958 model years. Designated the ”Special,” and also referred to as the “semi-high-crop” tractor, the ”420” V was primarily intended for use in sweet potatoes, cotton, and various vegetable crops grown on high beds. It's 26-1/4 inches of under-axle clearance and wide range of wheel tread widths equipped it well for that purpose. Today these tractors are highly prized by John Deere collectors.
