Description:  Winged Liberty Head or "Mercury" Dime 1944 S.  This coin is commonly called the Mercury dime, the main device is in fact the representation of Liberty. The wings crowning her cap are intended to symbolize Liberty of thought. Designer Adolf Weinman's monogram, AW, is at the right of the neck.
