Lindsay Finch (Mary Wilcox, 'Beast of the Yellow Night') is a young woman who is haunted by childhood memories of doting on her late father. As an adult, she is attracted to similarly rugged, handsome men, but she is unable to consummate these relationships sexually. Instead, she checks the newspaper obituaries each day for open casket funerals of young men, waits till the churches empty, and then kisses the corpses adoringly.

But Lindsay is a healthy, red-blooded, all-American girl next to Fred McSweeney (Timothy Scott), an LA mortician who cruises the streets for gay hustlers, lures them back to his office, strips them, straps them down as they scream for God to forgive their sins, embalms them alive, and then has his way with their firm, young bodies.

When Fred witnesses Lindsay's heart-pounding interest in his handiwork at a number of funerals, he tries to interest her in joining his necrophiliac cult ("We're quite normal people...just with differant passions"), and when she turns shy, he offers to provide her with a more private service. Fred's overtures coincide with Lindsay meeting and marrying Alex Martin (Lyle Waggoner on break from the Carol Burnett Show), an art gallerist who resembles her late father and may hold the key to solving her problem.

LOVE ME DEADLY belongs to that sub-genre concerning itself with adult derangements caused by resonating childhood trauma. Not everyone's cup of tea, but worth a look for the adventurous and strong of stomach.
