Brand new factory sealed two dvd set is now Out Of Print (OOP) and no longer being manufactured. Has a slight, barely visible, endentation in the center of cover causing a small tiny tear in the paper artwork sleeve that can be pulled out upon opening and fixed with a real small piece of scotch tape from the backside.
The backside is slightly endented with the shape of the disc hub. The Mill Creek label is known for "economical" packaging.
Despite these small blurbs this is still a good value for all the great movies assembled here. It is also noteworthy that the last film, 'Pact of Silence', is in French with English subtitles.
AGNESS of GOD: Jane Fonda stars as a court appointed psychiatrist to see if a young nun (star turn role Meg Tilly) is fit to stand trial after a dead baby is found in her convent room. The plot thickens as red herrings abound.
Was it a priest who impregnated the young nun, a hired hand or an angel? And who really killed the baby, Mother Superior, another nun or the aforementioned?
MARY REILLY: Mary is an innocent maid whose employer happens to be the infamous Dr. Jekyll. Mary is torn between the repressed affection of the doctor and the oily sexuality of his alter ego, who conjures up images of her abusive father.
A gothic psychosexual thriller with gloomy sets. Glenn Close appears as a bawdy brothel owner.
MESSENGER: Luc Besson's take on the story of Joan of Arc. Milla Jovovich as the title character sees her sister murdered and raped by English soldiers. She then hears heavenly voices that tell her she must free her country and king from the invaders. After a visit with the Dauphin, several bloody battles ensue, and Joan is eventually captured and put on trial for sorcery and heresy.
Awaiting her fate, she has conversations with a character billed as her Conscience, which bring up questions in her mind whether she was really divinely inspired or merely a fruit cake.
PACT of SILENCE: French with English subtitles stars Gerard Depardieu as a Jesuit priest Dr. Joachim Ferrer. Harboring a secret from his violent past and having found solace in the church, he soon finds himself caught in a web of intrigue when a young Carmelite nun, Sarah, is rushed to his hospital.
Suffering from inexplicable pain and delusions, Joachim recognizes in Sarah the familiar symptoms of repression and denial. What no one knows is the terrifying secret she carries inside her...a secret her twin sister Gaelle, 3000 miles away, also shares.
All four movies are widescreen.
