Vintage original 11x14 in. US title lobby card from the classic silent film melodrama, SECRETS, released in 1924 by First National Pictures and directed by Frank Borzage. Based upon the play by Rudolph Besier, after 40 years of struggle on the Wyoming
frontier, a woman (Norma Talmadge) reflects on her hardscrabble life with her unfaithful
husband (Eugene O'Brien).
The design features a large portrait of Mary Carlton (Norma Talmadge) rendered inside of an orange heart which is placed over a gray heart as she holds her index finger over her lips in the classic "Shhhh" pose along with a large key beneath her image. A paragraph describing the film is featured beneath the upper credits. Printed for the film's original 1924 US theatrical release, it is unrestored in fine- condition with two rectangular white areas of discoloration (one on either side); one or two pinholes in or near each corner; light signs of foxing around the outer edges; and light signs of wear on the top corners. The color tints are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
The film is based upon a 1922 play of the same name and was remade in 1933 with Mary Pickford in the leading role. |
