Silent Night, Holy Night - The first verse of that timeless Christmas carol is beautifully illustrated on this unique Silent Night Nativity nesting doll. The largest section frames the holy family in the second section through a rough cut opening. This opening represents a mouth of a cave, which in Byzantine and Eastern Orthodox traditions symbolizes Earth and all of Gods creation, and reminds us of both a womb and a tomb. Complete the scene with the other three nested images of the three wise men riding camels to find out what that bright star means, the shepherds already there and after hearing the good news, and the dove of peace which is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. The first stanza of Silent Night is printed on the back of the largest section.
These images by artist Valya Kirintseva have hand painted backgrounds and highlights, and for certain elements, Golden Cockerel reproduces the original hand-painted artwork on printed vinyl and artfully applies them to the dolls. The "cave" opening is cut by hand with the aid of a heated nichrome wire wood burner. It was designed and produced at the Golden Cockerel workshop in St. Petersburg, Russia, using non-toxic paints and high-gloss lacquer. This Silent Night Nativity nesting doll makes a lovely holiday decoration and gift. Certain to be a season favorite!
