Condition: These are original photographs, not a copy or reproduction. They both have some age spotting and corner wear. Comments: (From Dexter, Maine Historical Society, Dated 1951) Cassius W. Oliver, 92, died Tuesday evening at his home, 23 Beech street, after a long illness. Funeral services were held this afternoon (Thursday) at the First Universalist Church with Rev. Theodore A. Webb, pastor, officiating. Members of the IOOF also conducted services: Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery next spring. He was born Sept. 17, 1858, in Corinna, son of William and Elizabeth Lane Oliver. He had made his home in Dexter since he was six months old. Mr. Oliver was a member of the Plymouth Lodge, NO. 65, IOOF, for nearly 70 years, and was also a memeber of the Dexter Grande. A farmer most of his life, he retired in 1935. Surviving are his wife, Maria; two daughters, Miss Velma Oliver of Orono and Miss Cleo Oliver of Danvers, Mass.; a son Cassius Oliver, Washington D.C., and two grandchildren, Miss Audrey Oliver, student at Florida State University, and William Oliver, Jr., of Madison, Fla.
