The hole for the butt of the rod is 1 3/4" wide and the upper portion of the rod rests on the front of the rod holder.  A baitcast or closed-face reel sets upright  with the handle to the right or left; a spinning reel lies to either side with the handle up.

 
If you like to surround yourself and your entire boat with rod holders until you look like a giant spider from above ... we've got your fishing rod holder.  The Triple Bay Box rod holder holds 3 rods and was designed to fit over the railings on most pontoon boats.  The base is slightly flexible so it may be tightened around the smaller railings of older pontoon boats.
 
  • Our rod holders are made in the USA of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE).
  • HDPE is also harder and more opaque and can withstand temperatures as high as 248oF and as low as -148oF.
  • HDPE is resistant to many different solvents and chemicals.
  • HDPE is preferred to steel or PVC in a number of applications because it is more durable and more importantly it is much safer compared to steel or PVC.  If products containing HDPE were to be involved in an explosion, HDPE tends to rip and tear instead of shattering into sharp pieces which can kill or maim.  PVC and steel are particularly prone to this and their use is avoided where possible.
