This is a gorgeous set of 4 of the well-known, but rare to find for sale, Kirk Stieff pewter mug bases with the BUICK automotive logo etched onto them and a ceramic cup insert in each. The inserts are heavy and seem to be stoneware, with a glossy, cream glaze. With them is a hand blown glass pitcher, which also has the Buick logo etched onto it. Apparently Buick had them made for their 100-year anniversary in the 1990s. It is beautifully shaped and elegant.
Each pewter mug base is signed “KIRK STIEFF PEWTER” on the bottom. The ceramic inserts are in perfect condition (No chips, cracks, or crazing.) and are signed “USA” on the bottoms.
This set speaks of upscale class that Buick has always been known for. It would be perfectly suited to display as a highly collectible memorabilia, or to be put into use as a unique serving set.
Anyone would be proud to show off this difficult to find remembrance of Michigan and General Motors grand past.
Details:
The pewter bases are 3 ½” tall w/o the ceramic inserts.
The ceramic inserts are just short of 3” tall and 3” in diameter.
The base and ceramic insert together are 4 ½” tall.
The insert holds 8 oz. of fluid.
The pitcher is just over 9” tall and about 5” diameter at its base. It looks like it would hold nearly a half gallon of liquid.
All look as if they were packed away and never actually used. They are in excellent condition, with only minor surface scratches on the pewter mug bases here and there. I actually never noticed them until I was taking the pictures and looking very closely, they are so minimal. (We welcome any questions you may have regarding this and any other details.)
We always pack our items to ship very carefully, but I must admit, when we have such rare items as these, we put a bit more love into ensuring that they make it where they are going safely and without harm.
