Some Birds And Mammals of North America by Axel Amuchastegui London: The Tryon Gallery, 1971 Descriptive line text by Les Line Large 4to hard back in dark blue cloth boards. This book is approximately 14.5 x 21 x 1 inches and the weight is between 8 and 9 pounds. Interior has 16 spectacular multi-colour lithography color plates with tissue guards with text on rag paper. One of five hundred and five copies with copies A-E specially bound for the artist and his friends. This copy states: “file copy only, ex series” and is signed by the artist in black ink below this “Copy No.” The book is very good condition in the dark blue cloth boards with a bit of light wear and flecking to the front board and a portion of the rear board by the spine with light water spotting (see photo). The gold imprinting on the spine is bright. The interior pages and illustrations and tissue guards in this book are excellent. The endpapers are clean and without marks or soil. There is no slipcase and this book is the only one in my research that was bound in blue cloth. Being a file copy there would be no need for marbled boards or a slipcase is my surmise. This is a book in very good condition with some light imperfections to both cloth boards as stated with excellent interior pages and color plates. I have photographed a few but they do not do justice to the actual plates, which are stunning to look at. Thank you for looking, John Anthony Miller Phantom Bookshop Ventura, California |
