Don't miss your chance. Many items I have only seen once or twice over a decade. Description
Another gem from my closet which I have under grown. This coat is also one of a kind. I picked up this store when I was at one of the New York Trunk Shows. This was right before I became the webmaster for the company. I had spent most of the day talking with Michael about where the company had come from, the ideas, many of the other designers, etc. In short I had spent close to 6 hours chatting with Michael most of the day and in the end, he pulls this coat out of the back, says it was pretty much meant for me, and it was to be one of the pieces for the runway show coming up. Fit perfect, and this is the impossible to find, specially farmed French Lambskin. In short, the hides are about 3x as expensive as their normal leather, extremely limited in quantity, and to get something equivalent, you really have to spend $10000 and shop at the Italian designer the begins with a "G". It is also during this visit that Michael gets into an argument with the same French Farm that is doing the hides. They want to reduce his order. When he is finished, he tells me how tough the leather is to get and a very famous French Fashion House... think the one with the CC is trying to squeeze Hoban out because they need to increase their order. So anyways, back to the coat. Every year after words, when ever I saw Michael after I was the webmaster, he would always comment how he never could quite get the collar the same way as it was as mine, which was just perfect. New the coat was $3500. I got it for about $2000 since they had a big sale going on and Michael liked me (I would later become the webmaster) Still one of the nicest coats I have ever owned, but I am just swimming just a bit in it at the moment, so I either spend a fortune getting this altered, or the Jitrois I own. Still a tough debate, so if this does sell, I am not letting it go cheap. Then again, wearing this over a suit or heavy sweater would be a little oversized for me, but not as bad. You CANNOT get this coat any more. I know the "new" company that is run by their former Sales Manager is offering to produce their old styles, but the leather they use today is so-so. Nothing close to this French Lamb. You may get the same style, but you will not come close to getting the same leather, as well as a piece that Hoban personally had designed and was tweaking. Closest one to this I have seen recently was a $9000 Zilli This is in excellent condition, with no rips, tears or stains, it is a double breasted, long trench. Pics and measurements to be posted soon. Watch my sales. I am listing items daily from top designers and many items are being scooped up with the buy-it-nows and not even lasting 12 hours in many cases.
