containing reproductions of Redoute's famous roses.
This print is in excellent condition, on medium-weight paper.
Print size (excluding caption) is approximately 5 1/4 x 8 1/4 inches.
Page size is 8 1/4 x 10 3/4 inches.
The reverse has text, but nothing shows through.
Highly suitable for framing!
Pierre-Joseph Redoute, was born in Belgium in 1759, to a family of accomplished painters. Trained first by his father, he began to work while travelling, came across the work of the painter of flowers Van Huysum, and the course of his life was altered. His small water-colours attracted much attention as they revealed a new type of knowledge of the anatomy of flowers as well as unusual effects and freshness of coloring.
