Tchaikovsky: 1812 Overture, Capriccio Italien, Nutcracker Suite, Marche Slave (1990-10-25)

"The primary draw here, is of course the 1812 overture. The guns at the end are actual guns fired by the Canadian Navy from the St. Lawrence River. The bells are church bells from around the City of Montreal. The synthesizer that others complained about actually sounded more like an organ to me, but I don't really care. It in no way spoiled the performance for me, and it is VERY brief in any case. I've listened to classical music for the last 43 years, and have appreciated all the great conductors and symphonies, so I'm not exactly a neophyte fan here.

The sound on this CD is full, rich, and detailed. With a good sound set up, you'll have trouble believing you aren't listening to these performances live."
