Black Bamboo - Phyllostachys Nigra

The jet black canes of this bamboo is simply stunning and with the contrast of the soft green leaves waving gently in the breeze it truly a sight to behold.  One of the most sought after bamboos on the market today. 

 

New canes emerge green but will turn black fairly quickly – take a look at the bamboo of my actual plants – a number of the canes have already turned black.

 

Phyllostachys Nigra is hardy down to 5 degrees with no damage and can go lower with some top growth die back.  Height is 30 feet in average conditions with the canes up to 2 inches in diameter.

 

The plant that you will receive from me is a minimum of 4 feet tall with examples of my plants in the 3rd picture - If taller (and many are) I will try to bend the upper canes over into the box.  It will have a number of canes as you can see in the photo, unlike some of the other listings that provide only 1 cane or simply a rhizome with no top growth.  It will be shipped without it’s pot, with some of it’s soil removed to save you on shipping charges.  It will be packed and wrapped to retain moisture during it time in transit.
