VANITY FAIR, Vol. 2 by W.M. Thackeray
Printed for the Limited Editions Club
by the Oxford University Press, 1931
Introduction by G.K. Chesterton
Illustrations by John Austen
Condition: About Fine in Good dust jacket
This classic novel was a fairly early title from the Limited Editions Club. It contains 11 exquisite semi-colored full-page illustrations and several smaller illustrations by John Austen, one of the best book illustrators of the time. This was in two volumes, but at some time the volumes became separated, SO PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS VOLUME 2 ONLY! It IS the volume containing the Limitations Page (this is copy 1009 of 1500 copies) which has the signature of the artist, John Austien. The jacket has a large chip at the spine top, edge tears and creasing. Though lacking the 1st volume and the slipcase the books originally came in, the high quality of the book's craftsmanship, its excellent condition, the relative scarcity and Austin's illustrations and signature still make this a desirable item, at a very reasonable price relative to its value as part of a set.
