LEAVES IN THE WIND

by "Alpha of the Plough" (Alfred George Gardiner)

E. P. Dutton & Co., First U.S. Edition, 1919

Condition: Close to Fine in Near Very Good dust jacket

Alfred George Gardiner (1865-1946) was a British author and journalist.  This book contains what the jacket blurb calls "thoughtful, whimsical essayetttes", written under a pseudonym during World War I and mostly originally published in the London newspaper The Star.  The text is profusely illustrated with pen & ink drawings by Clive Gardiner.  274 pages, with untrimmed side & bottom page edges.   The book is in excellent condition, with just light front cover corner bumps,  a light erasure to the ffep and toned pages.  The seldom-seen dust jacket has some edge tears, moderate edge/corner wear, moderate wear along the spine and some spine spotting; but generally nice considering its age.  This first, in this condition and with the jacket, is very scarce.
