TSA Approved for airplane travel
This urn meets all the requirements of the TSA, which has the following policies:
- Travelers are allowed to travel with cremains in a checked bag or carry on (check with your airline for their specific requirements)
- TSA recommends carrying cremains in a carry-on bag to help protect the contents from the risks associated with checked baggage because checked bags are subjected to rapid and sometimes rough movement along a series of conveyor belts as they make the trek to and from the aircraft.
- Crematory remains in carry-on must pass through the X-ray machine to be screened. If the X-ray operator cannot see the remains clearly, the remains will not be permitted.
- Metal urns cannot be X-Rayed
- Crematory remains are one of the many sensitive items that could be exploited by someone wanting to conceal a dangerous item. TSA officers will not open containers with cremated remains, even if the passenger requests this be done.
- Some airlines do not allow crematory remains in checked baggage, so check with your airline first.
TSA RECOMMENDS:
- To facilitate screening, we suggest that you purchase a temporary or permanent crematory container made of a lighter weight material, such as wood or plastic.
- If the container is made of a material that generates an opaque image, TSA officers will not be able to clearly determine what is inside the container and the container will not be allowed.
- Out of respect for the deceased, TSA officers will not open a container, even if requested by the passenger.

Instructions for Mailing
The US Postal Service has very strict requirements for shipping cremains
- USPS requires shipping of cremated remains to be done using USPS Priority Mail Express (one-day shipping)
- USPS also requires the use of "Cremated Remains" labels - you can get them at the local post office
- Take the cremated remains to the post office for mailing. Your local office will give you all the help you need to make sure your loved one's remains arrive safely
