It features the calendar months in a circle surrounding the central motif of Tonatiuh, the Aztec Fifth Sun. 

Additional Aztek symbols continue the circular patterns around the plate.

The back of the plate is labeled as follows: Tonatiuh Wedgwood of Etruria & Barlaston Calendar Plate Seventh Series.

Tonatiuh, the Aztec Fifth Sun appears in the center of the design which is based upon the Aztec Calendar or Sun Stone.
