This Greek school book appeared in 1918 as a reading book
for the 3rd grade of primary school in the context
of the educational reform (1917-1920) of Eleftherios Venizelos,
which first established the use of the demotic language in primary school.
The book is a "legend" in the field of educational books not only
as an innovative and progressive textbook for its time but
also as a timeless model of a successful school book, which,
having just completed its course as mandatory reading,
it began a new circle as a literary children's reading except school.
To understand its symbolic significance and durability over time,
it suffices to say that in the summer of 1974, when it was necessary
to replace school books after the fall of the Dictatorship, it was
the reading material chosen for the 3rd grade of primary school!
