About The Record:

Windham Hill Records Sampler '84 is a collection of songs from Elektra artists such as George Winston, Shadowfax, and Michael Hedge. Winston crossed over into the Pop and Folk charts. Seven albums by Winston have been certified Gold and Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Shadowfax was a new-age/electronic musical group formed in Chicago in the early 1970s. In 1989, they won the Grammy for Best New Age Performance. Michael Hedges was an American acoustic guitarist and songwriter. He wrote nearly exclusively in alternate tunings. He was a multi-instrumentalist who played piano, percussion, tin whistle, harmonica, and flute. Windham Hill Records was an independent record label that specialized in instrumental acoustic music. It was founded by guitarist William Ackerman and Anne Robinson (nee McGilvray) in 1976 and was popular in the 1980s and 1990s.
