Long Ping Tung Purple Eggplant Chinese Japanese Eggplant Seeds Purple Shine Long Asian Aubergine Brinjal(中国长茄子)

Named for Ping Tung, Taiwan, the town of its origin. The fruits are light purple, from 30-45cm (12-18”) long, and only 3cm (1¼”) in diameter. Hardy, disease resistant plants bear heavy yields of sweet and tender fruits — as many as twenty per plant. Be sure to stake the bushy plants for the straightest fruits. Eggplants thrive in containers, but the trick is to keep the soil evenly moist, particularly during the hot weather of mid-summer, when the plants are most productive. The plants work equally well in the open field, but benefit from full sun and some protection from harsh wind.

The eggplant (Solanum melongena) is also called "eggplant" or "egg fruit. 
In China and India, this vegetable is known for thousands of years.
The eggplant we know, has a glossy dark purple skin and almost white flesh. The taste is very neutral. This has the advantage that eggplant can be combined with almost any other ingredient, in particular, 'solid' seasonings like garlic or fragrant green herbs like marjoram and basil. Another advantage is that eggplant contains a lot of healthy fiber and provides only 16 calories per 100 grams.
 
Eggplants- A pear-shaped, dark violet fruit. The "meat" of the fruit is delicious in many dishes: steamed, boiled or stir-fried. 
Eggplant is ideal for containers. Choose three to five gallon pots or larger, or try them in a raised bed. Well-drained soil is important, but so is good air circulation. 

Start Eggplant seeds indoors in April, and harvest from mid-June into early September. While it's true that eggplants appreciate hot weather, it's a misconception that they are difficult to grow.

Shipping of Seeds and Cuttings: Orders are shipped via Canada Post Mail unless otherwise specified. 

Some items are shipped without tracking to keep costs low. This is  the most economical option. Canada Post is incredibly reliable, but can be slow.
