Check out this fabulous vintage 1990s Zelda Black Coat featuring gorgeous brown soutache embroidery on both sides of the front. It’s adorned with a lovely fancy button at the neck, an attached self-belt, two convenient front seam pockets, and a smooth black satin lining. This coat exudes such a realistic 1940s vibe - the large shoulder pads and v-shaped back as well as the soutache and self belt-that you might mistake it for an authentic piece from that era! I Imagine it could evoke memories of wonderful films like "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" and "Breathe." And the best part? It’s in perfect condition! It is also lightweight for its size.
Measurements when laid flat -on outside of coat:
Pit to pit - 21"
Shoulder -18"
Sleeve -24"
Length -45"
Belt - 20" on each side

Zelda was a boutique label producing women’s garments beginning in 1982, and was sold in finer department stores like Henri Bendel and Saks Fifth Avenue.

The brand had a vintage aesthetic that sought to recreate the detail and fine tailoring of 1940’s-era garments, particularly suiting. Made of rayon crepe with great attention to detail, Zelda’s signature suit style featured a fitted jacket embellished with soutache, beading or ribbon work – rivaling the quality and character of the vintage originals. Sold as separates, with a skirt or pants option to go with the matching jacket, Zelda suits were coveted by professional women seeking non-cookie-cutter attire for the office.

Zelda ceased production in 1998. (Courtesy of Ranch Queen Vintage on Vintage Fashion Guild.
