Pre 1950 most Turquoise was untreated, it creates an aging color change. After 1950 all Turquoise is treated to stop the color change. It is a sealing from the effects of chemicals on the stone. Turquoise is found in mines containing Silver & Copper that gives the stones their unique colors. Oxidation occures from the start of mining.
