Features
Product Overview: The HT-V600DP features a combination progressive scan DVD player, Hi-Fi VHS VCR, and receiver with a 6-channel, 450-watt amplifier. The amp provides 70 watts x 5 for the satellites and center speaker, plus 100 watts for the subwoofer. The system also includes a 6-piece surround speaker system.
Disc Compatibility: The DVD player can play DVD Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, Audio CDs, Video CDs (including SVCDs), CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and CD-R or CD-RW discs containing MP3 files or JPEG files. Both 5" and 3" discs can be played.
Progressive Scan: The system is capable of providing a progressive scan video output through the component video output jacks. Progressive scan video has less flicker and fewer motion artifacts than the traditional interlaced-scanning method, resulting in a superior picture. (To take advantage of this feature, you must have a television with component video inputs that supports the progressive scanning mode.)
Surround Modes: This receiver incorporates a wide variety of surround modes to bring you maximum enjoyment from your video software and music sources. The surround modes include:
3D Surround: This unit can produce a 3D Surround effect, using 3D Surround Sound technology, which simulates multi-channel audio playback from two conventional stereo speakers instead of the five or more speakers normally required to listen to multi-channel audio from a home theater. This feature works with DVD discs encoded with Dolby Pro Logic and Dolby Digital audio tracks.
Bypass: You can select this setting to allow software with multi-channel surround audio signals to be played according to the way it was recorded.
Auto Clock Set: When the Auto Clock Set feature has been activated, the DVD/VCR receiver begins looking for a channel carrying XDS (Extended Data Services) information. XDS updates the clock using the Coordinated Universal Time. If Auto Clock Set fails to set the time, or sets it incorrectly, you will need to set the clock manually. When setting the clock automatically or manually, you have a Daylight Saving Time option with auto, on or off options.
Auto Channel Programming: The HT-V600DP is equipped with a frequency synthesized TV tuner capable of receiving up to 181 channels. During Auto Channel Programming, the receiver cycles through and programs all available channels into memory. You may also add or delete channels in memory manually.
Video (VCR) Playback: The following features are available during playback of a videocassette:
Video Recording: The HT-V600DP features standard recording features found on most VCRs. The DVD/VCR receiver can be programmed to record up to 8 programs within a period of 1 year at SP or EP recording speed. Instant Timer Recording (ITR) allows you to easily make a recording of a preset length (up to 9 hours) without using the programmable timer.
Copying from DVD to Video: This unit allows you to copy the contents of a DVD to a VHS tape. You cannot, however, copy any copy-protected material, including most all commercially available DVDs.
DVD Playback: The following features are available during playback of a DVD and Video CDs:
MP3 Playback: The DVD/VCR receiver can playback MP3-formatted recordings on CD-ROM, CD-R or CD-RW discs in ISO 9660 format at a bit rate of 32-320 kbps. The unit recognizes up to 650 files on a disc.
CD/MP3 Disc Operations: The following features are available during playback of an audio CD or MP3 disc:
Viewing JPEG Files: The HT-V600DP can play discs with JPEG files including Kodak Photo CDs. The player will recognize up to 650 files or folders. While viewing JPEG files in slide-show fashion, you can pause the slide show, flip the picture horizontally or vertically or rotate the picture clockwise or counter-clockwise, if not oriented properly.
Remote Control: The system comes with an infrared wireless remote control (RM-U600) which can control the DVD/VCR receiver operations, and perform basic functions (Power, TV/Video source switch) for multiple brands of TVs. Dimensions: Width=2.824", Length=7.617", Depth=1.308"
On-Screen Display: The setup menus, general playback status and recording status icons appear on the unit's on-screen display. The on-screen display is viewable on TVs connected to the RF, composite, S-video and component video outputs.
Satellite Speakers (SS-MSP76): The HT-V600DP DVD/VCR Home Theater System includes 4 identical satellite speakers. Each satellite includes a 2-13/16" full-range driver in a bass reflex enclosure and spring clip terminals. There is a single 5mm (M5) threaded insert on the back of the speaker for use with optional speaker stands or wall brackets. Self-adhesive rubber feet are included for shelf or tabletop placement.
Center Speaker (SS-CNP76): The system has a matching center speaker with a 2-13/16" full-range driver in a bass reflex enclosure and spring clip terminals. There are no provisions for wall mounting the center speaker. Self-adhesive rubber feet are included for shelf or tabletop placement.
Subwoofer (SS-WMSP81): The passive subwoofer features an 8" driver in a bass reflex enclosure. It has a set of spring clip terminals.
Magnetically Shielded: All of the speakers, including the subwoofer, are magnetically shielded, allowing you to place them in close proximity to a TV without experiencing picture distortion.
DVD Outputs: The video signals from the built-in DVD player are output through the RF, composite, S-video and component video outputs.
Progressive Scan: The component video outputs are capable of progressive scan video when activated in the DVD Setup menu. To enjoy this higher video resolution, you must have a High Definition or "HD-ready" TV with component video inputs.
VCR Outputs: The video signals from the built-in VCR are output through the RF and composite video outputs only.
Speaker Outputs: The six speaker outputs feature color-coded proprietary 2-pin connectors for each channel. Each length of supplied speaker wire has a matching 2-pin connector. A ferrite core noise filter is supplied for routing all of the speaker wires through.
Optical Digital Input: A single Toslink optical digital input is provided for connecting a digital TV set-top box or game device. Connected devices must have a sampling frequency of 32-48kHz.
Auxiliary Audio/Video Inputs: Two stereo audio and composite video jacks are provided (one rear panel and one front panel) for connecting optional A/V devices.
